Every clan gets 3 new cards every 6 months, and the amount of generically good cards each clan has is large enough that a lot of decks (but not all) kind of build themselves, outside of a few tech cards. V, on the other hand, is somewhat stagnant in its card pool.
Premium is a brewer's paradise, as there's so much you can do if you put your mind to it and take the time to look through and find these combos.
This means that people can reach through history and find some weird, cool synergy with cards printed two sets ago that actually work. Premium also has the benefit of being an "eternal" format, meaning that every card from the history of Vanguard can be used. A lot (not all) Premium decks use many V cards, so it's easy for a V player to jump into Premium without a ton of effort. Combine that with a fantastic reprint set recently and that's a recipe to draw interest into the format, especially from V players. People are experimenting with old decks, making adjustments for the supposed meta, and all around it's a brewer's paradise. The biggest thing is the massive banlist that hit at the end of October, which left a power vacuum at the top of the meta. In the case of Premium, it's a little more complex. People (myself included) who keep up with news have known what the set has included and kept an eye on JP results for months at this point, so it's a bit less exciting to discuss some things because everything is "known." That said, actually being able to play the cards finally is really exciting, and I'm looking forward to jamming some V games next time I go to locals. V, on the other hand, got its most recent set support in Japan a few months ago.

The power level of Premium will always be high, so it's up to you to get used to the playstyle there. I would expect Standard to reach that level of interactivity sooner or later, but V Premium is in that sweet spot of nice interactivity and low degeneracy. a varied and stable meta (PRISMs, Spectral Duke, Luard, Astral Poets, Gavrail, Nightrose are the top tier stuff, but there's still a small gap between them and high tier 2)įor me, I find V Premium a lot more fun because Luquier there's a level of variance to the game and there's a lot more interactivity between cards compared to Standard, and it's not as degenerate like Premium in regards to combos. However, when you look at opinions from many other people, they find that V Premium is one of the more balanced formats right now, probably due to 1. content wise, there isn't much because the meta has widely remained the same for the past year or so. Uhhh though you might not see it as much, V Premium is one of the more popular formats to play.
